As foster parents, Neil and Cecilia face the challenge of managing a large household with ever-changing needs.
With their nearly 30-year-old front door becoming tired, dated, draughty, and inconvenient, we spoke to them to find out why the Ultion Nuki smart handle was the best option for their new Solidor and busy lives.
Choosing a new front door
As well as being secure, it was important their new door was stylish and practical. The family craved more natural light in their home, while also preferring the reassurance of being able to see who was at the door. As they were getting their windows replaced at the same time, they also wanted to ensure everything matched, remaining in keeping with the style of their home.
Owing to the age of their original windows and wooden panelled front door, Neil and Cecilia found themselves having to constantly maintain them. They were therefore keen to ensure the replacements required less upkeep.
The couple were recommended to Nik Thompson at IT Windows Ltd – a family-run business established in 1986. As an approved Solidor installer, the company has been supplying and installing its doors since 2015.
Having assessed their front door options with Nik, they chose a Nottingham Solidor in Anthracite Grey. The colour matched the new windows, and the style offered their home an upgraded look while complementing the neutral interiors.
They also opted for a full-length glass side panel to drench their home in natural light and allow full visibility.
Redefining home security
When choosing a new front door, the safety and security of their home was a top priority for Neil and Cecilia. However, they also needed a way for their older children, who had moved out, to access the house independently.
The award-winning Ultion Nuki Plus smart handle provided the ideal solution, giving them the ability to lock and unlock their front door via a multitude of keyless options, including an app, a wireless keypad, and an automatic unlock feature.
“The main benefit is that no one has to carry any house keys, but everyone can still get in easily using the PIN panel or the app,” Neil explained.
“The Nuki handle has proved invaluable to our household. It offers so many family-friendly benefits such as the ability to remotely check whether the door is locked and even grant temporary access to visitors.
“It has made life so much easier because we don’t have to do things like hide keys out or worry about them being lost. We love the fact that it’s compatible with multiple smart home devices, too.”
The lock’s sleek design, available in two colour options, ensured the modern solution blended seamlessly with their traditional-style Solidor front door.
The perfect combination
The customisation options offered by Solidor, combined with the freedom provided by the Nuki lock’s various locking and unlocking options, have allowed Neil, Cecilia and their family to find a door that fits their every need and keeps their home secure.
